Hawai’i legacy series: henry opukahaia
Not long before the ending of the kapu under the rule of King Kamehemeha, this orphaned Hawaiian youth swam out to a ship sailing to New England. As Opukahaia learned English, he prayed, “Great and eternal God-...make some good man go with me to Hawaii, tell folks in Hawaii about heaven."
